Moth Discovery Mornings at Potteric Carr
Potteric Carr nature reserve,
Mallard Way (nr junction 3 M18, south edge of Doncaster), Doncaster, South Yorkshire, DN4 8DB
About the event
Join us early morning at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve to discover some of the exciting species of moths we have on site!
Moths are beautiful creatures, some are stripy, some are spotty, some are speckly, all with strange names, shapes and colours. Get exclusive early morning access to our Nature Discovery Centre to learn more about them!
Normally to discover the full range of what British moths have to offer, you have to look for them at night when the majority of our species are flying. However, with our specialist moth traps we are able to harmlessly capture moths at night using light and then check them in the morning. Join our expert moth trappers as they talk you through their findings and unravel the mysteries of the moths from the night before! You'll have the chance to get up close and personal with our incredible fluttery friends.
By surveying and recording the species we find, we to help build a picture of how our wonderful moths are getting on locally and nationally.
Tea and coffee will be available on arrival.
