Woodlands for the future

Yorkshire's iconic woodlands face a critical tipping point. Without rapid intervention, startling research shows we will witness total woodland ecosystem collapse within the next 50 years.

With the backing of our members, we are fighting for nature. Together, we are working to protect the bluebells, fungi, and awe-inspiring wildlife that call our woodlands home – but we need more people to join the fight if we want to succeed.

The challenge is great, but the solution starts with you.

Will you help our woodlands in their hour of need? Become a vital part of the solution by joining the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust as a member today. Your support will directly fund our on-the-ground conservation work.

Please, help us to protect Yorkshire’s woodlands for future generations.

The difference your support will make...

Earlier this year, our wildlife experts braved the elements to conduct hundreds of hours of surveys in our woodland nature reserves. Thanks to their hard work, we now have a clear plan to save our woodlands from ecosystem collapse.

The results of our research is clear: our woodland wildlife is in jeopardy. There's still time to make a change, but we must act today. By becoming a member of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, you can be a vital part of the solution. Your support will directly power our most critical conservation efforts.

It's a hard world for little things, but together, we can build a wilder future for even the smallest of our woodland creatures by:

  • Creating colourful woodland glades that sustain and nurture wildlife, allowing flowers, butterflies, and other pollinators to recolonise our woodlands.

  • Building homes for nature by adapting trees to create essential roosts and habitats for bats, tawny owls, and other much-loved woodland creatures.

  • Installing new nest boxes for some of Yorkshire's most iconic woodland birds, including flycatchers and redstarts, to provide them with a safe place to raise future generations of wildlife.

  • Planting new hedgerows to create a network of vital wildlife corridors, allowing pioneering species to safely travel across Yorkshire and establish new homes within our landscape.

Your membership doesn't just protect our woodlands; it also powers our whole range of vital conservation efforts across Yorkshire. As a member, you will be helping us to:

  • Manage 116 sites for nature, some of which are the most special places for wildlife in the UK

  • Regenerate whole landscapes, from our seagrass meadows to the limestone grasslands of Wild Ingleborough, through the power of more than 40 partnership projects

  • Build wilder communities and give people the knowledge, skills and confidence to take and sustain action for wildlife where they live

  • Give wildlife a voice by influencing local decision makers, businesses, investors and more than 500 planning consultations each year

  • And much more besides…
