About the event

Join us for a guided bat walk around Adel Dam Nature Reserve, in search of some of our nocturnal residents.

Tucked on the edge of Leeds, Adel Dam comes alive after dark. As dusk falls over the water and woodland, bats emerge to hunt. Join our helpful guides for a nighttime walk through this hidden urban gem in search of these illusive creatures.

You'll learn about Britain's amazing bat species, get hands-on with a bat detector, and discover how we can identify different species through sound alone. No experience needed - just curiosity and a sense of adventure.

Mobility

The path to Marsh Hide is suitable for standard wheelchairs and pushchairs, while the rest of the route is more uneven with narrow passage ways which become inaccessible for some users. Boggy areas frequent so keep to path.

What to bring

This event will take place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! Sturdy footwear is recommended and plenty of layers.

There are no toilet or catering facilities on this reserve. You may wish to bring a snack and flask of hot drink but please take your litter home with you.

There are buses that run from Leeds to Parkway Hotel which is a short walk from the nature reserve.

Parking information

Mercure Leeds Parkway Hotel, Otley Road, LS16 8AG. The hotel have agreed to waive parking fees for this event. Attendees will need to validate their parking via the tablet at the desk in the reception. This must be done within 10 minutes of arrival.
