About the event

Join us at Potteric Carr nature reserve where, as part of Yorkshire Fungi Fest, we are having two special mushroom themed cooking classes for children on Saturday 10th October.

Morning session – 

Come and create a fun, totally hands‑on Pizza Workshop with us! Every child will have their own workstation, equipment, and ingredients to craft their very own unique mushroom pizza — from making and shaping the dough to adding their favourite toppings.

Will you rise to the challenge and make yours mushroom‑shaped too? Let’s see those creative pizza skills come to life!

 Afternoon session – 

Or… would you prefer to whip up a creamy mushroom risotto instead? Each child will get to choose their own mushrooms before we begin, exploring different shapes, colours, and textures. Then we’ll cook step‑by‑step to create a delicious, comforting risotto for them to proudly take away.

A perfect mix of creativity, confidence‑building, and tasty fun.

Whichever session you choose, children will be given an apron to wear and a fun craft activity to enjoy while their food cooks. All packaging is included, and every child will receive a recipe card to take home so they can recreate their dish with the family.

Snacks and drinks will be provided for all attendees. Please note: children under 5 years must be accompanied by an adult throughout the session.
