About the event

Join a local fossil hunter with over 20 years experience of fossil hunting on the Yorkshire coast and discover the prehistoric secrets Spurn has to offer in this hands-on, adult focused event! 

As one of the fastest eroding coastlines in Europe, the North Sea provides a steady stream of incredible fossils ranging from coral specimens over 300-million-year-old to ice age beasts only a few thousand years in age. 

During this 3 hour session our staff will help you to ID what we find, offer preparation advice and give you some top tips to make your own future discoveries!

 

This workshop is designed for adults only (18+) for our family friendly fossil sessions please see Secrets of the Shore or Fossil Fun.

What to bring

This event takes place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! We'd recommend sturdy and waterproof footwear or wellies, and lots of layers! If it's a hot day, remember a hat and suncream!

Joining us on the day

Our events meet at Spurn Discovery Centre, where there is a café and toilets. Please arrive with plenty of time before your event!

Parking information

There is a £5 parking charge, which helps us to maintain the centre and look after the reserve. There is free parking for Wildlife Trust members who display their up-to-date membership card on their car dashboard.
