About the event

Join us for a really wild weekend and discover the many species of birds, mammals, insects and plants that call Woodfield Park home. Enjoy guided walks, nature themed stalls and family activities. 

Help us to build a detailed picture of Woodfield’s wildlife by downloading the iNaturalist or Seek app onto your phone beforehand. Our experienced staff will be on hand to help you to record the wildlife you spot on the day. 

Free event, free parking, no booking needed. 

Café on site serving hot and cold food, drinks and ice cream. 

 

Join us at Dusk for a Family Friendly Bat Walk - booking essential

9.30 – 11pm

Discover the bats of Woodfield Park on a family‑friendly guided evening walk with the South Yorkshire Bat Group. 

Led by Louisa from the South Yorkshire Bat Group, this evening walk will introduce you to the bats of South Yorkshire. You’ll learn how bats use echolocation and have the chance to listen to their calls using bat detectors as we explore the park after dark. 

Meeting point: In front of St Catherine’s House, Tickhill Rd, Balby, Doncaster DN4 8QP 

What to wear/bring: Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear. Bring a torch if you have one. 

Who is this event for: This is a family-friendly event, suitable for adults and children who are comfortable being outdoors after dark and walking for up to 90 minutes. Children must be accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult at all times. 

Accessibility: The walk will take place on paths and grass and may include uneven surfaces. Lighting levels will be low, and the route may not be fully accessible for all mobility aids. If you have specific access requirements or questions, please contact the organiser in advance.
