Position details

Commitment:

Any Day

As a #TeamWilder Community Champion, you’ll play a leading role in engaging, inspiring, and coordinating others, helping us organise and empower communities, enabling more people to make more of a difference for nature at home, in their community, school or place of work.

#TeamWilder is a rapidly growing movement of people, just like you, who care about our environment, and want to help wildlife thrive, not only in our nature reserves, but in our urban towns and cities right across Yorkshire.

To enable more people to play an active role in #TeamWilder, we are establishing a crack team of innovative, and enthusiastic volunteers to help us organise and empower communities right across Yorkshire.

These #TeamWilder Community Champion volunteers will play a leading role in engaging, inspiring, and coordinating others. They will help us organise and empower communities, enabling more people to make more of a difference for nature at home, in their community, school or place of work. This difference could be made by creating wildflower verges to provide food for insects, digging ponds to provide habitat for frogs, planting native hedgerows, building nest boxes for swifts, or creating hedgehog friendly streets. Communities may want to come together to campaign for something that matters to them, or to organise a litter pick or community event to bring people together.

Days and hours are flexible and can fit around your personal commitments. No experience is necessary as full training will be provided. You will simply need to enjoy engaging with others, be confident speaking in public to a wide range of audiences and be passionate about creating a Wilder Yorkshire!

If this role sounds perfect for you then please download the Community Champion Role Profile for more information and send in a complete application to volunteering@ywt.org.uk – we can’t wait to hear from you!
