Due to essential works to the bridge, there will be no public access to Wheldrake Ings nature reserve from Monday 20 May. The reserve will re-open in early June. The car park will also be inaccessible, so it is best to avoid it completely from 20May until further notice.
During this time we will be replacing the bridge across to the reserve, allowing us to ensure long-term management of the site including the essential hay cut in July. We are choosing to complete this work at this time of year as it removes the need to access the meadow and disturb ground nesting birds to build an emergency access bridge.
Thank you for your patience, we anticipate it taking no more than 2 weeks and we will announce a completion date as soon as we can.
