About the event

Many creatures live in the waters at Askham Bog from water-beetles, dragonfly nymphs to pond skaters. Come and join this guided pond dipping session, who knows what you will discover? 

Children must be supervised by parents/guardians at all times. The session will last around 45 minutes and all equipment is provided.

Please note Pond Dipping sessions take place at 10.45, 11.45, 13.45 and 15.30 and are bookable on the day from the information gazebo. We look forward to seeing you there.

Mobility

This event involves kneeling on the board walk to sweep the net into the water.

What to bring

This event takes place outside so please come prepared for all weathers. We would recommend sturdy shoes, sun cream and hats. 

Casey's Coffee of York will be onsite selling snacks, lunches and drinks. If you bring a packed lunch, please take your rubbish with you.

Portaloos are available in the car park.

Parking information

Car park available at entrance of reserve. We are anticipating the weekend to be busy so if the car park is full there is additional space at Askham Bar park and ride which is a 5 minute drive away. The reserve is a 10 minute walk away.
