About the event

February half term is the perfect time to be outdoors, blow away the cobwebs, get moving and take some action for nature. Join our nature reserves team and volunteer group for a fantastic day out on the hills

Meet us in our car park where we will gather all the tools and equipment we need to head out to the hills.

Work gloves and tools will be provided just make sure you have a packed lunch and a drink, wear study footwear and a coat that is appropriate for the weather. 

16 and 17 year olds who live at home need to fill in a parental consent form, email us or fill one in on the day.

We have a car park, access to this is down a track that starts at the junction of hall Bower Lane and lady House Lane

Travelling by public transport

Stirley Community Farm is a 20 minute walk from Berry Brow rail station.

Access by bus: catch the 306, 307 or 308 from Huddersfield to Newsome for a reasonably flat walk to Stirley or catch the 310, 314. 315 or 316 from Huddersfield to Berry Brow for a steep walk up the hill (it’s fantastic exercise!)

Know before you go

The volunteering day is unfortunately not accessible for people in a wheelchair as we will have to trek over fields off paths. We want to make sure the day is inclusive for people so if you have any health issues or additional needs that we should be aware of then get in touch for a chat.

There are toilets including an accessible toilet and baby changing facilities.
