David Lindo (keynote speaker)
David Lindo, also known as The Urban Birder, is a broadcaster, writer, naturalist, photographer, public speaker, tour leader and birder (of course!).
His passion is for urban birds and he spends his time promoting the appreciation and conservation of the birds that share our city lives.
He travels the world encouraging citizens and organisations to step outside wherever they may be to enjoy urban birding.
Through his TV appearances, writing, talks and tours he tries to inspire people to re-look at their urban environments. All we have to do is open our eyes, ears, hearts and minds and soon we will be linked into the nature around us.
Our guided walks will take place at Adel Dam nature reserve, which is just a short walk from the hotel.
Adel Dam has a dramatic high canopy of trees and a lake with resident kingfishers, the site is also popular with woodpeckers and mandarin ducks. The walks will be led by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable Adel Dam volunteers and wildlife experts from Yorkshire Wildlife Trust. During the walk we will explore the plant and wildlife and visit the Marsh Hide to look out over the lake to see what wildlife we can spot.
Short walk (starting at 1.15pm)
- Duration: up to an hour
- Access: good level paths, accessible for those with limited mobility
Long walk (starting at 1.30pm)
