This award is open to children of all ages, and is a simple and fun way to earn some points whilst exploring nature in different ways! All you have to do is to collect stamps for your award card by either taking part in wildlife related activities and/or attending a Yorkshire Wildlife Trust event(s).

1. Register for the Hedgehog award online by visiting the Wildlife Watch website here - https://www.wildlifewatch.org.uk/hedgehog-award

2. Once you have gained all 8 stamps, ask a parent or carer to head back to the Wildlife Watch page and fill in the short form.

3. Receive your very own special certificate to print at home!

For an extra challenge, why not then take part in the Kestrel Award which is the next level up!

Kestrel Award

The Kestrel Award is suitable for children aged 8yrs and over and in order to take part we need to register you as a member of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

You do not need to have completed the Hedgehog Award beforehand in order to move onto this award, and there are four exciting wildlife challenges to get involved in!

Create it!

Do it!

Record it!

Shout about it!

You will need to find an adult to mark the challenges – this could be a teacher or someone from the local community who is knowledgeable on the topic. It doesn't need to be same person assessing each challenge and a parent may assess one of the challenges too. When the card is complete,  please return to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust's main York office- Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, 1. St. George's Place, YORK, YO24 1GN.

You will then receive a fantastic Kestrel Award certificate and embroidered badge to put on your bag or clothing!

If you are interested in taking part, we would love to hear from you. Please contact the Supporter Services team by e-mailing supporter.services@ywt.org.uk or call 01904 659570.

Nature Ranger Award

The last of all challenges is the Nature Ranger Award which is more of a project-based activity and a chance to really showcase what you have learnt during your study!

Children need to have completed the Kestrel Award first. To take part you need to choose a UK wildlife or conservation topic to study, then produce a report for your local Wildlife Trust to assess.

Your study can be one of the following:

Written report

Film

Powerpoint presentation

Website

Organising and leading a guided event for friends/school class/other group on the topic.

When complete please send to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, 1. St. George's Place, YORK , YO24 1GN or e-mail supporter.services@ywt.org.uk. If successful, you will receive another fantastic certificate, an embroidered badge, a special mystery prize and a mention in the Wildlife Watch magazine!

Please contact the supporter Services team if you have any questions either by emailing supporter.services@ywt.org.uk or by calling 01904 659570.
