Use peat-free compost

Using peat-free compost is an easy switch and a great start to helping our peatlands! We love Dalefoot Composts, who provided all the peat-free compost for the Wildlife Zone. You can order online or buy from our shop at Potteric Carr nature reserve.

If you want to do more, you can donate to #GivePeatAChance! We're restoring our peatlands to protect wildlife and combat climate change.

Collect rainwater with plants

You learned all about slowing the flow of water in Town upon River! Why not put your new knowledge into practice?

From hanging baskets to old wellies, you can turn almost anything into an oasis for wildlife and help to slow the flow of rainwater in your garden.

Make a home for wildlife

Bug hotels are so much fun to make and a great way to encourage lots of creepy crawlies into your garden!

If you're not confident building your own, then you can buy ready-made homes for wildlife in our online shop.
