Dear Supporter
We are writing to ask for your support for the Friends of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust (FYWT). FYWT was set up in 2005 to appeal for donations to be used when match-funding is required for grants to Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.
Much of the work of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust relies on grants from external sources, but often these grants do not cover 100% of the project costs and require match-funding, typically 10%-50%. Opportunities can be missed while the Trust seeks the necessary funding for a project, which may have to be found from a number of different sources. The Friends of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust can make one payment very quickly and enable the project to begin without delay – if they have sufficient funds in the account. Some grants such as landfill tax will not accept match-funding from the Trust itself, but do accept FYWT as a third-party funder.
Over the past three years, funding through the Friends of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust has supported a number of exciting projects. These include the Restoration of Calley Heath, which is already responding well to the work that has been carried out; the River Calder Biodiversity Project, improving wetlands in West Yorkshire; and the Potteric Carr Wildlife Action Ranger Project, inspiring young people to appreciate the wildlife on their doorstep.
Future projects which need our help include the Mid Aire Rivers Project, working with young people and communities in Bradford; helping water voles to recover After the Floods in East Yorkshire; and work on the Wildlife Trust nature reserve at Ripon Loop. And there will be more!
The members of the Friends of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust are all volunteers who are committed to enabling the Trustto continue its valuable work all over the county. The most important contribution the Friends can make now is to provide match-funding for landfill tax funded projects. Can you help? For every £1 you can give to FYWT, the Trust can claim £10 from the Landfill Communities Fund.
If you would like to contribute please send your donation to the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust office, 1 St George's Place, York, YO24 1GN. Cheques should be made payable to The Friends of Yorkshire WIldlife Trust.
Thank you for your support
Yours sincerely
