The Flamborough Head Storyboard is a partnership project led by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust on behalf of the Flamborough Head Environmental Assets Group.
This project has been funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund. The focus revolves around 9 new interpretation panels, installed at various locations around Flamborough Headland. Each storyboard depicts a theme relevant to the headlands rich natural and cultural heritage including, fishing, seabirds, migration, lighthouse and shipping, farming and wildlife, marine wildlife, geology, archaeology and history.
The content for each board has been gathered through extensive consultation with those most knowledgeable about each theme, local residents and experts. In addition to the actual boards, four walking trails have been developed between the boards which are marked by wooden posts on the ground. The trails are accompanied by both a walking guide and a number of associated audio recordings of local people talking about the themes. Both the trail guide and podcasts can be downloaded directly from the new storyboard website where there are also a number of photo stories to accompany the intimation on each theme.
Hard copies of the trail guide can be obtained from local attractions such as Flamborough lighthouse and Sewerby Hall or from the Trust directly.
