About Stirley Community Farm

Stirley Community FarmStirley Community Farm

Stirley Community Farm is an exciting venture into the world of food and farming for Yorkshire Wildlife Trust.

The farm, which is leased from Kirklees Council, was taken on by the Trust in 2011 and has developed at an unrelenting pace since then.

Stirley Community Farm aims to demonstrate that farming and wildlife can exist hand-in-hand, whilst sustaining itself as a viable farming business.

What was three derelict dairy farms covering 240 acres is now home to a growing herd of beef shorthorn cattle, well established food-growing training gardens, a small orchard, beehives, the Cre8 Education Barn and more.

The once - derelict farm buildings have been transformed to provide an award winning education centre, offices and agricultural barns.

The work on a busy farm is never ending! Meet some of the staff that make it possible here.
