Water Haigh Woodland Park

Water Haigh Woodland Park is an intimate matrix of inter-connected pockets of broadleaved woodland, pasture, hedgerow and wetland.

The site is located on the footprint of the former Water Haigh colliery, which has now been transformed from a former spoil heap to a green oasis.

In addition it is helping to reinforce the important green corridor that is the Lower Aire Valley, and for years to come will benefit people and wildlife alike.

In recent years new tracts of woodland have been planted, hedgerows bolstered with additional planting and new footpaths created.

Water Haigh Woodland Park is part of a corridor of green spaces in the Lower Aire Valley in Leeds which is currently managed in partnership between Yorkshire Wildlife Trust and Leeds City Council.
