Moorlands - Nature Reserve

 

A diverse mixed woodland lying on the glacial deposits of the Vale of York. A large variety of birds and small mammals abound including bats, moles, roe deer and great spotted woodpeckers. Spring time brings colourful blooms of daffodils and narcissi as well as a great variety of azaleas & rhododendrons.

Hyacinth Bulbs Planting 

It's time to plant some beautiful hyacinth bulbs in ceramic pots - they'll make a wonderful Chistmas present!  We'll also show you how to use a storm kettle to make us all some yummy hot chocolate!

Feed The Birds

Join us to make bird feeders for our feathered friends, which will help them survive the cold winter months.  We will also see what birds we can spot at Moorlands.

Sawing Morning

Come along to make a real difference at Moorlands!  You'll be using tools to clear areas of the reserve to improve it for all our creepy crawly, furry and feathered friends!

You will use a variety of traditional tools and techniques to make:

  • a stool
  • a mallet
  • a kazoo
  • a spatula
