We are now coming to the end of our two year Wild about York project. The main aim of the project was to provide high quality outdoor education on green spaces around York for schools and the community, in order to promote a greater appreciation of the green spaces in York. This project aimed to deliver educational sessions on local green sites or on school grounds.
The project involves the production of an education pack, which will be a high quality resource for teachers to use when delivering outdoor education on local green sites or on school grounds. The education pack will allow teachers to be fully equipped with everything they need to conduct an exciting and effective outdoor education session. It will contain lesson plans that will support the National Curriculum objectives for Key Stages 1 and 2 and will be linked to the QCA schemes of work. The pack will also contain risk assessments, maps of local green spaces and furthermore provide lots of stimulating ideas. Lesson plans within the pack will cover a wide range of subjects from Science and Citizenship to Music and Maths.
The Wild about York education pack is currently in production - watch this space for downloadable lesson plans.
