Visiting the Living Seas Centre

Looking to visit the Living Seas Centre? Here is some useful information...

Public opening times 2018:

Our opening times are 10am to 5pm (4pm October to March)

The Living Seas Centre is open every Sunday year round and daily from Saturday 10th February until Sunday 25th November.

Please note - the Living Seas Centre will be closed on Friday 29th June 2018

Our Discovery Room is reserved for visiting school groups during term time but is open to the public every Sunday year round and every weekend between 10th February and 25th November. It is also open every day during Yorkshire school holidays as per the dates below:

February half-term: Saturday 10th February to Sunday 18th February

Easter holiday: Saturday 24th March to Sunday 15th April

Summer half-term: Saturday 26th May to Sunday 3rd June

Summer holiday: Saturday 21st July to Sunday 2nd September

Autumn half-term: Saturday 27th October to Sunday 4th November

Please note: we are only open Sundays through the Christmas holidays.

There may be times when the Discovery Room has restricted opening times or is closed to the public due to training courses etc. Dates are listed below:

Tuesday 13th February: The Discovery Room will close at 2.00pm.

Saturday 17th February: Discovery Room open from 11.00am.

Saturday 10th March: Discovery Room closed to the public all day. Living Seas Centre open as normal.

Sunday 6th May: Discovery Room open from 11.00am.

Sunday 30th September: Discovery Room open from 11.00am.

Sunday 21st October: Discovery Room open from 11.00am.


It is free to visit the Living Seas Centre but we welcome donations to help keep the centre running. Profit from any sales made at the Living Seas Centre, such as hot drinks, are ploughed straight back in to our fantastic conservation work here in Yorkshire.

Certain events run from the Living Seas Centre are free while for others there will be a small charge. Again, alongside donations, all money from events are put straight back in to our conservation work in Yorkshire.

Car parking:

There is ample parking available for both cars and coaches right outside the Living Seas Centre. Parking is controlled by East Riding of Yorkshire Council and charges apply as below:

60p for the 1st hour; then 80p per additional hour or £2.90 all day.

You can also purchase an East Riding of Yorkshire Council wide car parking day ticket for £5.40. This will allow parking in any ERYC Long Stay car park on day of purchase. Other ERYC car parks near to the Living Seas Centre include Flamborough Head, Danes Dyke and Sewerby, alongside several car parks in Bridlington.

Coaches are charged at £7.50.

How to get to the Living Seas Centre:

The Living Seas Centre is located at South Landing, Flamborough.

From Bridlington take the B1255 towards Flamborough and as you enter the village, follow the signs to South Landing.

From Scarborough take the A165 towards Bridlington. At the Dotterel Roundabout take the 1st exit towards Flamborough.

The nearest railway stations are Bridlington (4 miles) or Bempton (3.5 miles).

The nearest bus stop is in Flamborough village (3/4 mile) which is served by EYMS bus route 510 (Bridlington to Flamborough).
