Community group activities offered at Potteric Carr

All activities can be individually tailored to meet the requirements of your group and involve games and hands on fun. All sessions can be adapted to a wide range of ages and abilities.

 

Pond Dipping an introduction to aquatic invertebrates, their habitats and adaptations to life under water.  Nets are used to capture, identify and study aquatic life before returning them to their natural environment.
Mini-beast Hunts a hands on basic introduction to terrestrial invertebrates.
Habitats a comparison of different habitats and the adaptations of the invertebrates found within them.  Can include ponds, meadow, woodland and soil as well as food chains and webs
Earth Education sticky palettes, journey sticks, un – natural trails
Senses sound maps, sticky palettes, bat and moth, camouflage
Numeracy shapes, patterns, collecting and handling data
Literacy creative writing hungry caterpillar workshop, poetry
Themes migration/hibernation, life cycles, seasons, specific species, bird watching
Art and craft nature inspired drawings, natural sculptures, bark rubbing
Geography site specific investigations, water cycle, map work, treasure hunt/nature trail
