Moth Trapping Report for Thursday Night 20th April

A relatively mild night for a change provided the first opportunity in April for some moth trapping. The catch was hardly spectacular but the 17 recorded species included a number that we would normally associate with the month of May rather than April, for example Maiden’s Blush, Pale Tussock and White-pinion Spotted. Prominents also made an early appearance, with Pale, Pebble and Lesser Swallow amongst the species trapped. Pine Beauty, Powdered Quaker, Shuttle-shaped Dart, Oak-tree pug and Parornix anglicella were further additions to the 2017 list.
