  • 1 Bittern - cell 1a
  • 5 Little egret - came in from over the M18 after 4pm heading towards Low Ellers
  • 1 Marsh harrier - imm male hunting on Huxter Well Marsh and settled to roost at 4.15pm
  • 1 Sparrowhawk - made several sorties in to the starling flock
  • c300 Herring Gull - cell 1b at dusk but lots continued to arrived after dark
  • 50 Great black-backed gull - cell 1b at dusk
  • 1 Tawny owl - calling in the Hawthorn Bank/Cottage Drain area
  • c1000 Starling - dropped in to cell 4 at dusk
  • 2 Song thrush - singing at Black Carr Field and the warden's car park

  • 6 Little egret - flew NW over Huxter Well Marsh at dusk heading towards Low Ellers
  • 1 Marsh harrier - adult male at Huxter Well Marsh
  • 20 Lesser black-backed gull - cell 1b at dusk
  • 195 Herring gull - cell 1b at dusk
  • 107 Great black-backed gull - cell 1b at dusk
  • 2 Stonechat - pair in the middle of Huxter Well Marsh

Buffer Area

  • 1 Little egret - came in from north and went onto Low Ellers at dusk
  • 200+ Jackdaw - roosting at Short Lane Fields
  • c2500 Starling - murmuration seen from Short Lane

Nearby were up to 50 Waxwings on the berry trees along Middle Bank off White Rose Way, near the Royal Mail and Tesco distribution centres. NB its a very busy road with limited parking.

  • 1 Marsh harrier - imm male at Huxter Well Marsh
  • 1 Water rail - calling in the old Decoy Bank area
  • 1 Tawny owl - calling in Black Carr Wood
  • 1 Kingfisher
  • 2 Great spotted woodpecker - Beeston Plantation and over the compound
  • 1 LESSER SPOTTED WOODPECKER - a male was seen in Beeston Plantation and later along Wllow Bank
  • 2 Willow tit - Willow Pool
  • 1 MARSH TIT - Willow Pool
  • 3 Chiffchaff - Access Track, Willow Bank and pumping station
  • 1 SIBERIAN CHIFFCHAFF - seen and heard on the edge of Young Eaa near the Access Track
  • 2 Nuthatch - Beeston Plantation
  • c10,000 Starling - tried to roost at the Lagoon but were harassed by a Marsh harrier and Sparrowhawk so most flew off towards Low Ellers
  • c100 Redwing - Loversall Carr Field
  • 1 Greenfinch - VC feeders
