Spurn Discovery Centre

Posted: Tuesday 24th April 2018 by AndrewMason

It is great to be in the Spurn Discovery Centre.

Since the opening of the Discovery Centre it has been very busy here at Spurn.
The weather was really against us in March but this did not stop the official opening going ahead. Getting the centre ready for guests was a mammoth task.
The amazing efforts of our volunteers has not gone without comment and we just could not have done it without them. A big thank you to them.
So it is open. Seven days a week from 9am to 5pm. (Cafe from 10am to 4pm). The weather has improved and we are getting used to being in our new base. Schools are beginning to book our education room and watch this space for a full events list.
The cafe serves delicious food and refreshing drinks all week. The views from the centre are amazing and inspire visitors.
Bike and binocular hire are available from the centre and this is the place to register for the famous Spurn Safari.
Don’t forget that the Spurn Lighthouse is also open to visitors between 12 noon and 3.30pm. Check opening times at the Discovery Centre cafe.
We are always looking out for volunteers to help at Spurn. If you want to become a lighthouse keeper, ranger, welcome volunteer, cafe volunteer or practical task volunteer please ask a member of staff and we will be happy to inform you about each role.
Well, Spring is in full swing and it is great to see so many migrant birds passing through. I loved watching the male redstart last week.
There is always something to see or do at Spurn so why not pop down soon.
