Acomb Wood - Local Nature Reserve

Acomb Wood in Woodthorpe is around 3 acres in size. It is believed to be an ancient woodland, home to a large variety of birds including greater spotted woodpeckers, tawny owls and tree creepers. The wood is just teeming with wildlife so come along and see what birds and animals you can find!

Cutting and Chopping
Join us to do some much-needed pruning of trees at Acomb Wood.  We'll keep you warm with some yummy hot chocolate!

Willow Wreaths
It's time to wrap up warm and come along to make a wreath to hang on your front door.  There'll be Christmassy run-around games to play as well to make sure we keep warm!

Nest Boxes for your Neighbours
Birds are getting ready to find homes to raise their chicks... give them a helping hand by coming along to build some boxes.  After eating YWT homemade soup for lunch we'll give the nest boxes away to the local community.
