Brockadale - a fantastic reserve

Brockadale - the valley of the River Went between Wentbridge and Kirk and Little Smeaton. It cuts through Magnesian limestone hills and its steep slopes mean that its fields have always been difficult to farm. So there has been no fertiliser or pesticide use and the wild flowers grow in profusion. Most of the woodland is ancient and semi-natural - meaning that it has been there for hundreds of years and allowed to regrow itself when trees have been cut down.

If you would like to volunteer at Brockadale, we run mid-week and weekend task days. You can find out more in our Volunteering Newsletter.

Brockadale's web pages are under development and more will appear soon.
