Castle Howard - Saw a barn owl about an hour ago at @ArboretumTrust

YWT Noddle Hill LNR - the bat walk at Noddle Hill Nature Reserve was brilliant. We saw pipistrelles and daubentons.

Wykeham Viewpoint - First, a male bullfinch offering a colourful distraction, then a couple of goshaws then a honey buzzard followed by another .  Then two common buzzards went up to inspect them as well.

Between Spurn Point and Withernsea - I regularly see at least 10 Barn Owls in different areas plus a family of Little owls at Out Newton.

Thornton Dale - I finally got the lesser spotted woodpecker which has been skimming past my window at 5.30 all summer on a mission to somebody's feed station. They are a fast bird , but this morning I got it moving up the trunk of the Ash.

YWT Kiplingcotes and Rifle Butts Quarry - Chalk grassland flowers looking amazing on Wolds Wander today. Also spotted flycatchers feeding at Rifle Butts Quarry, plus yellowhammers singing all day.

YWT Potteric Carr - a great day for bird sightings with a bittern, black necked grebe and an osprey all seen.

YWT Filey Dams - 2 greenshank , 2 common sandpiper , 1 whitethroat , 1 willow tit , 2 bullfinches male and female, 3 goldfinches , 2 little grebes, plenty of greylag and canada geese, coots and moorhens with young , mallard, and black-headed gull juveniles.

    Good to hear of another Barn Owl sighting .   I got one passing over the road west of Malton  a while back and I have -only- 2 reports this year near Thornton Dale to High Marishes area so am hopeful of a breeding pair  - as against 5 pairs before the bad snow Mal Jones YWT member Thornton Dale
