Booking learning sessions for schools and community groupsGroup discover their local environment - Credit Gavin Repton

We aim to run learning sessions outside of the classroom to help students of all ages and abilities learn more about wildlife conservation, their local environment, food growing and much more. All activities are tailored to the requirements of your group and are linked to the National Curriculum.

Group size & classroom facilities

Activities at our educational centres are based on a group size of up to 30 children, although larger groups may be able to be accommodated upon request. Classes are generally divided into two teaching groups, each led by a member of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust staff or a fully trained volunteer. A classroom, toilet and hand washing facilities will be available to your group throughout your visit.

All teachers or community group leaders wishing to book a school or group visit to an education centre need to arrange a pre-visit. This is to ensure your visit will meet your objectives and our health and safety requirements.

Access for all

We make every effort to ensure our education centres and classroom facilities are accessible to all. All of our activities can be adapted to suit children of all ages and requirements. Please inform us if any of your pupils have specific arrangements or requirements.

Health and safety

Yorkshire Wildlife Trust staff and volunteers are fully trained to run education activities and have undergone an enhanced disclosure check and first aid training. Comprehensive task and site risk assessments are carried out for all activities undertaken and will be available to teachers at the pre-visit.

Please note: teachers and accompanying adults are responsible for the safety and discipline of their group at all times.
