Vegetable patch at Stirley Community Farm

Your questions answered; if you are still after more information contact the Stirley team!

Can I visit the farm?

The farm has a series of public footpaths which are always open to the public. There is nearby parking at Castle Hill and Victoria Tower, HD4 6TA.

Can I come to the farm and learn how to grow food?

Yes! We can organise training sessions at the farm for groups of adults or accompanied children. Contact Kim Warren for more details.

Can schools visit the farm?

We hope that the farm will be a safe environment for schools by 2012, but we can offer outreach activities in all aspects of food growing education for your school or community group. Contact Kim Warren for more details.

Will any of the footpaths be closed on Stirley Farm?

We will not close any of the official rights of way, and there will be an open access policy. We must, however, repair our fences and walls to keep livestock in, so you may see some changes to access points and stiles.

Can I walk my dog on Stirley Farm?

Yes there is an open access policy at Stirley Farm but please be a responsible owner and respect the livestock. Please follow the countryside code and please ensure your dog is wormed regularly.

When can I buy Stirley Farm beef?

We hope beef will be available in 2014.

Will there be a farm shop?

There are no plans to have a farm shop at Stirley but products produced on the farm will be available through local outlets and a box scheme.

How can I support Stirley Farm?

We hope that visitors and volunteers will get involved in events, skills sharing and eventually by buying Stirley produce. By becoming a member of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, you can help to fund the running of the farm long into the future. For more information on membership take a look at the membership pages.

This project is funded through the Local Food scheme, for more information see www.localfoodgrants.org and www.biglotteryfund.org.uk
