Hull Road Park Community Garden

What’s happening?

The Dig In team worked with local residents to create a food growing area in the middle of Hull Road Park. What was once an under used shrub bed is now the home of raised beds that have grown some lovely produce in their first year. We put in some fantastic toadstool seating so that local residents can come together, learn about growing vegetables and socialise with one another. The garden played host to fabulous events too including a herbal medicine evening, a summer fete and a whole day dedicated to building scarecrows. The aim with all Dig In sites is that they become sustained by the local community or group and we're pleased to say that this is the case with this site and preparations are underway to exchange the license.

What's next?

There are plans a foot for the garden in the coming year and these include more food growing, developing a wildlife area and planting to increase biodiversity. More details will be coming soon so watch this space.
